Humanity United for Equity
About HUE
Humanity United for Equity exists to help people move through the connected conditions that affect stability, including health, housing, education, grief, workforce, community connection, and access to care. At its simplest, the answer to “what is health equity?” is this: people deserve a fair opportunity to live with the support, access, and resources they need.
For HUE, that belief is a blueprint.
Our Story
Humanity United for Equity was founded by Khalil Noah Scott, whose life gave him an early understanding of what happens when systems process people without truly supporting them.
Raised in Cleveland, Khalil moved through experiences no child should have to carry. Abuse, neglect, residential care, foster homes, and behavioral health facilities all became part of his early life. The systems around him were supposed to protect him, but too often, they moved him from one unstable place to another.
As a young adult, Khalil also saw how the criminal legal system could treat people differently inside the same room. He experienced how a record can follow someone into job applications, housing searches, and everyday attempts to rebuild. Those experiences gave him more than personal pain. They gave him a clear view of how systems can close doors long after someone is trying to move forward.
Later, after receiving an HIV diagnosis, Khalil began turning survival into advocacy. He joined the Texas HIV Syndicate, became part of the 2022–2026 Harris County End HIV Epidemic Planning Body, and worked across Texas, Ohio, and Georgia to help define prevention and treatment measures for people living with HIV.
His work grew from there. Khalil became a licensed mental health counselor specializing in grief and trauma. He became a faith leader, a community voice, and an advocate for people who have been excluded, dismissed, or forced to navigate complicated systems alone.
Humanity United for Equity is the result of that lived and professional experience. It is not a reaction. It is a blueprint.
The organization brings together Houston health equity programming, individualized Pathways, community-rooted access, and long-term infrastructure so people are not left moving between disconnected systems by themselves. Among the health equity organizations Houston communities can turn to, HUE is being built with a clear purpose: to build stability and expand equity through connectivity.

Our Values
People First
Every person has a story, a context, and a set of needs that may not fit neatly into one category. HUE starts there.
Access For All
Support should be reachable, not hidden behind barriers or systems that only work for those who already know how to navigate them.
Clarity and Education
People deserve clarity before they make informed decisions that impact their lives. HUE breaks down systems, options, and next steps in an easier-to-understand way.
Real Solutions
The goal isn’t to offer surface-level help. HUE is precisely structured with Pathways and local partnerships, so we can offer real support to create positive movement in people’s lives.
Accountability
As stewards of the community, it’s our goal to create consistent follow-through with every one of our members through strong internal coordination.
Understanding First
Before anything else, HUE listens. The best support starts with taking the time to understand what someone is carrying and what kind of response will have the most positive benefit.
