Humanity United for Equity

Humanity United for Equity
Connecting Care. Strengthening Communities.
HUE is reshaping the way you move through the everyday conditions that affect your health, stability, and opportunity, from housing and emotional wellness to education, financial growth, grief recovery, HIV support, and neighborhood connection.
Humanity United for Equity
Real-Life Support for Real-Life Barriers
Life doesn’t separate itself into neat categories. Housing can impact health. Grief can affect work. Food access, income, education, emotional support, and community connection can all impact whether you feel stable, stuck, or stretched too thin.
As a community-based organization and health equity system here in Houston, HUE helps make sense of what you’re facing, find support, and move through systems that are often confusing, disconnected, or hard to navigate alone.
The Model Behind the Mission
A Health Equity Ecosystem
HUE is building support for the way you actually live. You may be dealing with housing stress, grief, emotional strain, employment challenges, healthcare needs, or family responsibilities at the same time. HUE brings those pieces together into one clearer model of support.

HUE works across health, housing, education, economic stability, emotional support, and the community conditions that shape everyday life. The goal is not to place you into a narrow category, but to understand what is affecting stability and help identify the next step.

Learn About Our ApproachFinding Support for Life’s Moving Parts
HUE’s work is built on the idea that support should never stop at a single issue, when life often asks you to carry several at once.
That’s why HUE organizes its work around what it calls Pathways, which are connected areas of support that help people understand what is affecting their stability, find the right starting point, and connect with Houston’s vast system of community resources.

Learn MoreHow HUE Connects Support
Start With the Person
HUE begins with what someone is facing, not a narrow label, category, or form. The goal is to understand the person’s reality before deciding what kind of support may fit.
Look at What’s Connected
Challenges often overlap. HUE looks at how housing, grief, emotional health, income, education, healthcare, and community conditions may affect someone’s stability.
Find the Right Pathway
Once the bigger picture is clear, HUE works closely to help identify the pathway, resource, partner, or support option that may genuinely make sense for the current situation.
Coordinate the Next Step
As a community-based organization, HUE helps people understand what comes next by connecting them with the most relevant community resources in Houston.
Staying Connected
Support shouldn’t go away after one conversation. When possible, HUE stays connected so people have steadier guidance as they move through the process.
People Should Not Have to Navigate Broken Systems Alone
Many systems are organized around categories. Housing. Healthcare. Employment. Education. Mental health. Community support.
But people don’t experience life that way. One challenge can impact another, and the pressure can build quickly when support feels disconnected.
HUE exists for people and communities facing barriers to stability, especially when traditional systems feel hard to understand, access, or trust.
Our work is affirming, culturally grounded, and responsive to the communities we serve, including LGBTQ+ people and communities most impacted by barriers to care, housing, income, education, and support.

Community-Rooted Access
HUE builds access through familiar spaces and real relationships where trust can blossom over time.
Connected Pathways
HUE helps connect the dots between different areas of life, so people are not left trying to navigate each need on its own.
Infrastructure Behind the Mission
HUE is building tools, workflows, partnerships, and follow-through processes that make support feel less fragmented.
Founder-Led Perspective
HUE is shaped by lived experience and understanding of how disconnected systems leave people without a path forward.
ABOUT
Our Founder
HUE is led by founder Khalil Scott, whose life and work have been shaped by firsthand experience with fragmented systems.
Raised in group homes, foster homes, and behavioral health facilities, Khalil saw how easily people can be moved through systems without the clarity, consistency, or support they need.
That experience became the foundation for HUE’s larger vision: build a community-based organization in Houston that supports people now while strengthening the pathways, partnerships, and infrastructure needed for long-term change.
